Justice for GBV Victims: NPPA Host Training for Investigators, Prosecutors, and Judges on the Handling of Gender-Based Violence Cases

The National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA), in collaboration with the European Union (EU), is hosting training sessions for investigators, prosecutors, and judges on the efficient handling of gender-based violence (GBV)-related cases at ILPD-Nyanza from March 12-14, 2025.

The training aims to equip participants with practical knowledge, legal tools, and victim-centered approaches to improve the investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of GBV cases. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of relevant legal frameworks, address challenges in handling such cases, and strengthen collaboration among justice sector institutions.

Key topics to be covered during the training include the legal frameworks surrounding GBV, forensic evidence handling, judicial responsibilities, and addressing the needs of victims, among others. The overall goal is to promote a more efficient and professional response to GBV, ensuring that victims receive the support and justice they deserve in a timely manner.

The training brought together 60 key participants, including 30 District Chief Investigator, 18 Chief Prosecutors, and 12 Presidents of Court at Intermediate Levels.
