Join the Fight Against Child Defilement: Everyone's Role Matters
This is one of the messages being shared in an ongoing campaign organized by the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) to fight against gender-based violence, particularly child defilement. The campaign, which started on February 3, 2025, is being conducted through community radios across the country.
The campaign includes radio talk shows covering various topics, such as explaining the crime of child defilement and its penalties, how to report the crime when it occurs, how to preserve evidence, and the consequences of neglecting to preserve evidence.
The campaign also highlights the status of child defilement case files and showcases a website that publishes the names of individuals convicted of child defilement and rape. This information is available at www.sor.nppa.gov.rw.
Additionally, various methods for reporting child defilement cases are shared, including, among others, toll-free hotlines: 3935 (NPPA), 3029 (Isange One Stop Center), and 3512 (RIB).
This campaign, aimed at encouraging the public to fight against child defilement, will continue to be broadcast nationwide on community radios throughout February 2025.
